Because Some Days You Just Feel Like Eating the Whole Pan of Brownies...

Monday morning was not my friend this morning.  Plain and simple.  After the last few days of celebrating America, I think my body just decided to rebel against me and not cooperate with everything I was throwing at it.

First off, I overslept by two and a half hours...not that my alarm didn't ever go off, because it most definitely did. I distinctly remember hitting what I thought was the snooze button, at 5:50 this morning. So, imagine my surprise when I finally did come to after what felt like 10 minutes, wondering why my alarm hadn't gone off again, to see my clock saying 8:20...NOOOOOO!!!

You see, most mornings it wouldn't be such a big deal, but I was a complete and utter idiot for scheduling my annual exam the Monday after the Fourth of July weekend. (I mean seriously, who does that??)  So I had to be functional and actually presentable for this lovely appointment that I had scheduled for 9:30.

Well, that meant that I couldn't get in my workout this morning, I wouldn't have time for my coffee, and I knew that I had to shave my legs.  Because let's face it, the last thing I wanted my doc staring at was my prickly cactus legs...plus I was dropping M off at a girlfriend's because there was no way in heck I was taking "the tornado" to that appointment!  This meant I only had 30 minutes to get showered, shaved, face painted, hair styled, wrangle a toddler and head out the door.

Well, I ran around like a chicken with my head chopped off, but we made it out the door by 9...I sped to my girlfriend's, dropped M at the door, then sped to the doc, and pulled in the parking lot at 9:28...two minutes to spare!!  So I was feeling pretty good at that point.

My name was called right away, they take me back, and I forgot that the first thing they do is weigh you.  Well son of a b!  I haven't weighed myself in over a month because I decided to break up with my scale (you can read about that in this post here).  Needless to say when it stopped at 134.0 (since the last time I weighed myself I was 130) I was a teensy bit upset.  It didn't help that I wasn't caffeinated, and hadn't eaten anything yet, so I couldn't rationalize the fact that I was probably retaining a bunch of water from all of the salt filled foods and drinks from the past four days!!
Right after the "weigh in" and before the nurse came in to do her deeds before the doc.  My feelings on this fine Monday morning.
I just brushed it off, went and did my business in the tiniest cup, stripped down to nothing, put on the lovely gown and sat and waited for my doctor to come in.  He wasn't coming, and wasn't coming, so I pulled out my phone and started catching up on my Monday morning blog reads.  When he finally did, 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, I was about ready to rip somebody's head off...you just don't make a very hungry, coffee deprived naked woman wait that long!!!
I definitely am in need of a pedicure...
The icing on the cake was when he was down doing his poking and prodding he makes the comment: "Oooooh, what is that, that I smell?  (at this point I'm pretty sure I turned 50 shades of red with embarrassment wondering what he was smelling) Is that.....coconut?"

Oh, phew!!  Praise little baby Jesus!  "Um, oh yeah! I have a coconut body spray that I wear in the summer time..."  Wow.  Talk about awkward!

Anyway, he finished up, I got dressed and left.  Thank goodness you only have to do that once a year...

Needless to say, by the time I picked up M, got home and prepared lunch it was 12:00 and I was about ready to eat my arm off, I was so hungry.  I demolished my sandwich, some broccoli and hummus and a peach.  But I was still starving.  So then I said screw it and this happened:
No, I didn't eat all of those...we had a couple friends over last night for dinner and we had brownie sundaes for dessert.  So, the pan was already 1/4 gone...but I truly had to restrain myself from polishing off the entire pan!
Yep.  Because some days you just feel like eating the whole pan of brownies.  And today was definitely one of those days.

Until next time...

  5. OH MY, ma'am!!!!! I'm so sorry you had such a horrible day, but I have to admit that this post made me laugh like crazy!!! I would have been 600 shades of red if the doctor said that during my exam:/ Good for you for eating the brownies! Some days we just need them! I saw, though, that you had your running shoes on last night in the park, so I feel certain you still got some sufficient workout time in! Here's to being one day closer to the weekend!

    1. Oh thank you, sweet Stefanie! That's just one of those things that you just need to laugh about...after the fact! ha!

And you are right...sometimes you just have to eat the brownies...and I did make up for not working out and for eating those brownies by going for a little jog with the stroller before we headed to the park!! So I call that a win!! :)

  7. Sometimes I think they have a list of normal questions and comments to whip out while down there to get some chuckles because no question/comment is normal when you're in someone's junk.
