Friday Faves

TGIF!!  This week has been crazy, to say the least, so let's just get right to this, shall we?

I'm linking up again with one of my fave bloggers, Darci and some other awesome gals for their Five on Friday Linkup.  Here's what I'm currently crushing on right now...

{One.}
My little helper.  These past few weeks with Daddy being out of town, we have done A LOT together. And because of that, I think that our bond is even stronger than it ever has been and for that I am grateful...that said, he has become my little helper with every.single.thing I do!  His latest obsession though is helping me cook and bake in the kitchen.  I mean honestly, though, how could I turn this sweet little face down?

{Two.}
Speaking of cooking and baking, in that above picture, my little man is helping me whip up a batch of these bad boys.  Apple Peanut Butter Bars.  I know they sound interesting, but trust me, they are out of control delicious!  We baked a pan, and I literally had to cut up the rest and send them with him to give to his teachers the next day because I knew that if they stayed in our house I would devour every last one.  I will definitely be making these on a regular basis.  Easy, delicious and oh so yummy!

{Three.}
I've been racking my brain trying to come up with an up-do style for my sister's wedding which is three weeks from tomorrow...I want something elegant, classic and sophisticated.  I found this style when I was searching "bridesmaid hair" on Pinterest this week and I think I found a winner!  What do y'all think?  I'm open to any and all suggestions!

{Four.}
Ok, y'all.  If you have children that are in the toddler stage or older, you will totally appreciate this video!  We watched it at our MOMS meeting yesterday and I just could not stop laughing!  Seriously.  Highlight of my week.  I can relate to the entire thing...as most Mama's out there can too, I'm sure!  Take the minute and a half to watch it.  You won't be disappointed!

{Five.}
After weeks of deliberation, I finally decided upon Madden's Halloween costume for this year.  He is constantly talking about dragons when he is playing by himself, so I just knew I wanted to find something related to that...well, enter Old Navy.  Seriously y'all.  Have you been into one of their stores lately?  They are really stepping up their game and I have to say, I'm not mad about it!  I found this super cute Dragon costume there this week and let's just say Madden is beyond excited about dressing up for Halloween in a few weeks!

Well, that does it for me for the week.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Until next time...

Thankful Thursday

Hey hey!!  Happy Friday Eve my dears!  We are so close to the weekend I can almost taste it!  But what is almost better than the weekend??  Well the fact that this amazing link-up is back!  And with a new look!  Thanks to my gal pal Crystal for redesigning the button to have my mug posted next to her gorgeous model head shot!
If you are new to this link up, the rules are simple:  Just grab the button, add it to your blog post to link back to one of our pages, write about any five (or more or less) things that you are thankful for (serious, funny, or a mix of both) and come back to add your post to the link up at the bottom of our pages.  Simple as that.

So what are you waiting for??  Tell us what you are thankful for today!
Here is what I am thankful for this week:

{One.}
These two.  I mean, y'all know that I am thankful for the little nugget in this picture, but those other two.  They are beyond important to me.  We have been through so much together.  We grew up together.  We have seen the good, the bad and everything in between.  My little sister and brother.  We don't always agree on everything, but at the end of the day I can't imagine my life without them.  Plus, they are the best aunt and uncle (also godmother and godfather) to our little man!  I love them so much and beyond thankful for them!

{Two.}
My MOPS group.  Oh my goodness y'all.  These ladies are the absolute best.  Every other Thursday we get together and talk about mommy hood highs and lows over the most amazing brunch and coffee...all while we get to enjoy two child free hours!  It is marvelous.  Plain and simple.  We have laughed, I have bawled like a little baby sharing our struggles and asking for prayers and positive thoughts.  I look forward to those Thursdays and guess what??  You can find me there today!!  I cannot wait!

{Three.}
This show.  Oh my goodness, this show is hands down my favorite series on television right now.  I mean I have quite a few shows that I enjoy and DVR on a nightly basis, but this one takes the cake.  And with the season premier last night, I am even more excited about this season than last.  If you haven't started watching it, you must.  Just sayin'...you won't be disappointed...

{Four.}
The ability to wear a combination such as this.  We are back into the 80's this week (boo for fall teasing us last week) so that calls for a light weight long sleeve button down and shorts, or skinny jeans and short sleeve tops.  I guess Mother Nature just wanted to give us all one last chance to bust out the summer gear...but I gotta admit...I'm kinda over it.  Give me my boots, sweater, and leggings weather again.  Please and thank you.

{Five.}
This quote.  I found it last week and it really hits home for me.  I am constantly comparing myself to others.  I find myself wanting things that they have, therefore clouding my judgement of myself.  I have so much to be grateful for and I just need to remember that every day.  I have been working really hard on this one, and I have honestly noticed a huge difference.  My life is pretty darn great and I have to remember to thank God every day for what he has given me!!

Well, my dears, what are you thankful this week?  Link up with us and let us know!  We all have something that makes our life pretty incredible...so brag about it!  We wanna hear it!

Until next time...

So What??

What day is it????  "Hump DAAAAAY!"  Ok, I'm sorry, that will never get old...I don't care who you are...that's funny ;)

Anyway, with it being Hump Day and all, I've decided to say so what and link up with a crazy awesome Mama - Shannon, over at Life after I Dew for her "So What Wednesday" Link-up...because it's just one of those days, you know??

So what:
  • If I hit my snooze button not once, not twice, not even three times, but FOUR times this morning, y'all.  No joke.  You see, I set it 10 minutes earlier than I normally do, so in my foggy, sleepy brain I guess I was justifying the snooze hitting...I would just tell myself every time it would go off "oh, well if I hit it one more time it will be like I'm getting up when I normally do when it goes off next time..."  but the cycle kept going.  And going.  And going.  Lesson learned!
  • If I am on my third cup of coffee this morning and it's only 10:30.  You guys, I'm not kidding you when I say being a single Mama while the hubs is away on work, for the THIRD week in a row is down right exhausting!  I am on my last straw by the time 5:30 rolls around so the rest of our night usually goes something like this: M:"Mama, can I have a possicle (aka popsicle) for dinner" Me: "sure.  I don't care.  go grab it and bring me the scissors."  Ok, I'm totally kidding about him bringing me the scissors, but the thought has definitely crossed my mind.  I only have to make it through one more day.  Just one more day...I can do it!!
  • If it's the hub's birthday today but we won't even get to see him.  This one is actually kind of depressing.  We try to do birthdays BIG up in here, but he is SOL on this one.  Because, you know, it's just not as fun to celebrate your day of birth on a random Thursday night.  But he will have cards, hand drawn artwork from the little guy and balloons waiting for him when he gets home at midnight tonight...all the while we will both be tucked away for the night, cozy in our beds.  Sorry honey.  I love you and all, but I don't think I could force myself to stay awake past 10:00 no matter what night it is...I should at least get an "A" for effort, right??
    Happy 28th Birthday babe!
  • If I hit up Target's "Dollar Spot" last week and totally raked in some AMAZING fall decor for all a buck a piece!  Seriously y'all.  If you have any area of your little casa that needs a burst of Fall, check them out.  I can guarantee you won't be disappointed!
  • If my two and a half year old still sleeps in his crib.  He hasn't tried to EVER climb out of that sucker, so it's like a mini cage that he is forced to stay in until someone goes to retrieve him.  But, sadly, that will be coming to an end this weekend.  We are finally biting the bullet and setting up his "Big Boy Bed".  We went out and bought his bedding on Monday, and he is over the moon excited about it.  I, on the other hand, am having my doubts.  I am just not ready for him to be out of his crib because that means the last bit of baby is being taken away...and, the main, most selfish reason is because I like me some sleep.  And with him having free reign with no bars to keep him caged in, I have a feeling this mama might be woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of toddler feet running down the hall.  Lord help me!
Well, my dears, that's about all I have for today!  How many times do you hit the snooze button?  Any great birthday ideas for the hubs?  Any tips on keeping your little ones in their "big kid beds?"  What are you saying so what to??

I'm Joining the Bandwagon...

What bandwagon??  What the heck is she talking about?  I'm sure y'all are wondering what kind of "bandwagon" I am referring to, so I'm not going to mess around...I've decided to bite the bullet and join the "Jillian Michael Ripped in 30/30 Day Shred" Bandwagon...

I've become kind of bored with my at-home workouts on the days that I don't actually go into the gym and I also feel like I'm stuck in a rut/plateau with my fitness level.  Sure, I do a bit of cardio and a lot of strength training, but I feel like I'm at a stand still.  I want to kick things up a notch or two, and after seeing time and time again the crazy results that so many of you are getting with her workouts, I decided to give them a try!

So, these are the three DVD's that came in the mail today:

Now, I'm not saying I'm going to do them all at the same time...I'm planning on switching things up every few days.  But my thought process is this:  On the days that I decide to do these workouts at home, I will either do the Ripped in 30 and Killer Buns and Thighs together or the 30 Day Shred and Killer Buns and Thighs together.  That will equal a total of approximately an hour workout.  And from what I have been reading/hearing around here in blogland, I should definitely see some results!

So, for your viewing pleasure, I've decided to to do a little "before and after" of my results.  Now, let me preface this with the fact that I'm not looking to transform my body.  I mean, I have come a long way in my fitness journey, but I just want to kick things up a bit and tighten a little here, a little there, if you catch my drift.  I am doing this for myself and to see if these bad boys can live up to the hype that I have been hearing so much about!

Without further adieux, here are my "before" pictures...
I apologize for the quality of the pics...I only have my phone as a camera right now, so they will have to suffice!  So, let's see what changes my body makes in the next 30 days...I don't have much I want to change, but a few tweaks here and there wouldn't hurt!

What about y'all??  Have you tried the Jillian workouts yet?  Which ones are your favorite?  Have you seen results?  Fill me in on all the dirty details, and wish me luck!

Until next time...

My Weekend...in Pictures

Good morning my lovelies!!  This weekend flew by in a flash (as it always does) but I have to say that it was a top ten weekend in my book!  We didn't have anything crazy planned, didn't have to be anywhere at a certain time, so we were able to just relax and enjoy a couple days as a family!

Here's the low down (in pictures) what went down over here the past couple days...
Friday night I was meeting the hubs for dinner when he got home from his work trip, so I had the babysitter come a little early so I could get a little "mommy time" in before I had to meet him.  So, I hit up the mall to do a little shopping, get a pedi and grab a drink while I waited for him to come into town.  It was amazing...plus I hit up some AWESOME sales!
We had dinner at Bonefish Grill and there is just no way we can go there without starting out with their famous "Bang Bang Shrimp"  So yummy!
And, OMG...you guys, remember how I told you about my love for my little apple drink concoction on Friday??  Well, this Apple martini blew that sucker out of the water!  Holy cow!  Needless to say, I had three of those bad boys throughout the course of dinner.  But, in my defense, we were just having such an amazing time catching up on pretty much the last two weeks of our lives as he has been gone with work, so they went down pretty easily...#sorryimnotsorry
Came home after our date to find this sweet little bug cashed out...I love just watching him sleep...am I weird??
Saturday morning I was excited to show off my new pedi, so I wore sandals with my black jeggings and my Nebraska T-shirt as we ran around town shopping for the hub's birthday present (his birthday is Wednesday)
Yep.  Let's Go Huskers!!  Sorry for the ridiculous selfie...this was right before we headed out to a friend's to watch the game...
My contribution to the party??  A red velvet bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes....Do y'all have these where you live?  If not, you are missing out!!  They are literally to die for.  My favorite is a toss up between the lemon and the red velvet, but I had to go red velvet for game day (Go big red!!)
Sunday was made for mornings like this...suggling with my two boys in bed.  Drinking coffee and catching up on Duck Dynasty.  Staying classy friends...
The rest of the day was spent playing "make-believe" with this kid before the hubs had to leave for another work trip.  I'm not kidding you when I say this child of mine has the imagination of an 8 year old.  In this picture he told me to "wrap me up like a burrito baby mama!"  So, that's what I did!  Man I love this kid!

That was our weekend in a nutshell!  Nothing crazy, but just enough to keep us busy!  Now, it's time to gear up for another week with the hubs gone, and more "Mommy and Madden" time!

What did y'all do this past weekend?

Until next time...

Five on Friday Faves

TGIF!!  Thank the sweet Lord that it is finally Friday!  I am beyond excited for this laid-back, no plans weekend that we have set up for the next couple of days!  The extent of my "plans" include watching college football on the television tomorrow, whipping up my (first of the season) pot of chili and possibly baking up some yummy apple goodies.  Annnnnd Sunday = Repeat!  The perfect Fall weekend in my books!

But, to get this weekend started on the right foot, we better kick it off with another edition of "Five on Friday" with Darci and a few other awesome gals!

Here's what I am loving this week...

{One.}
Deliciousness in a glass right here, y'all.  This time of year all I want is everything pumpkin flavored...but if I can't have that, I am head over heels for a good apple cider.  Put that together with a little caramel vodka and what do you get??  A Caramel Apple Cocktail.  It's simply just one part caramel flavored vodka to two parts apple cider or simply apple, apple juice.  Yum....

{Two.}
What would go perfectly hand in hand with that little number up above??  Well, this super duper easy apple pie snicker doodle bar!  Seriously y'all.  I found this recipe here yesterday afternoon, so I made my grocery list (I only needed two ingredients for this) went and grabbed them, and whipped up a batch of these delicious goodies in under 10 minutes.  Let me tell ya...they are the bomb.com.  When I say easy, I mean EASY PEASY!!  Again I say: Yum...

{Three.}
Ok, so this might not pertain to us Midwesterners anymore after this week, but when I saw this last weekend I about died laughing!  I mean seriously...I know that so many of you out there can relate to this, so I just had to share this little gem!  I'm feelin' for all you southerners right about now...But never fear, Fall is here!!  (It just might not feel like it yet!)

{Four.}
Would you guys believe me if I told you that I still have and still wear my jean jacket from when I was in high school over 10 years ago?  I'm not even kidding.  And, honestly, I have purchased two others thinking that I should probably update my old one, but which one do I always end up wearing??  Yep, the old one!  But man, oh man, am I ever glad that I kept that sucker!  It's for reasons like the picture up above.  I am totally stealing this girl's layering idea and mixing plaids with denim.  In love.

{Five.}
I totally had my mind set on a pot of your basic, original chili for tomorrow with leftovers for Sunday, but when I was perusing Pinterest yesterday I found this recipe for a White Chicken Chili that sounds AMAZING!  Sooooo, scratch the hamburger chili...mama's whipping up this bad boy!  I can't wait to cozy up on the couch with a big ol bowl of this and my famous corn bread muffins to dip in it!  Have I mentioned yet that I love this time of year??

Well, that's all for this girl for the week!  I hope y'all have a fantastic weekend!!

Until next time...

Thankful Thursday

Happy Friday Eve my dears!!  Where has this week gone??  I don't know about y'all, but I am already looking forward to the weekend...this is the first one (and last one) in a long time that we won't be running around like chickens with our heads cut off...(I've always wondered how chickens can run around without heads in the first place?)

Anyway, on a completely different note, today I am helping Crystal Michelle from Crystal Michelle's Mess co-host the first ever "Thankful Thursday Link-Up"!  I just found her blog and am in love with this girl!!  She is gorgeous, down to earth, speaks her mind, and has the sense of humor that I only wish to have!  So when she emailed me and asked if I wanted to do this link-up with her, I jumped all over it!  I mean, who doesn't love a good, easy link-up??  *raising both hands*

The rules are simple...all you have to do is grab the button, paste it into your blog, and then enter your post back on the host's page.  All you have to do is tell about 5 things that you are thankful for right now, (they can be serious, funny or a mix of both) and that's it!  Easy, peasy!  There might even be some prizes involved for the best posts...

Alrighty then...let's get crackin' and see what I am thankful for on this wonderful Thursday!
{One.} I am thankful for the amazing weather we have been having in these parts...the 50+ degree mornings we've been having have made me really believe that Fall is finally here...and with Fall, comes  my morning coffee by the fire.  I love this time of year!
{Two.} Speaking of coffee, I am oh, so thankful for this little gem to pour into my cup every morning...This is my favorite creamer flavor ever and it's such a disappointment that it's only available this time of year.  I may or may not have three extra large bottles in my fridge right now...
{Three.} I am beyond thankful for this man right here.  He is my best friend.  My rock.  My shoulder to cry on.  And I love him beyond comprehension.  I know this may sound cheesy, but I cannot imagine my life without him.  With him traveling as much as he has been these past few weeks, I am really realizing just how fortunate I am to have him working so hard to support our family!
{Four.}  And speaking of my favorite men, I am so thankful for this little man.  He is my little buddy.  We do everything together.  He makes me laugh; he makes me cry.  I never knew I could love a little person so much.  And I am beyond grateful that God put him in my life!
{Five.} And last, but certainly not least, I am thankful for you.  Yes, you read that right...I am thankful for each and everyone of you.  Every single one of you that comes here every day and reads my ramblings holds a special place in my heart.  I am serious when I say that I have made some amazing friends through this blogging process and I couldn't be more grateful.  So thank you.  Form the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Until next time...

Dear "Grown-Up" Madden...

button
Hi Honey!!  Mom here.  I just wanted to write to you to tell you how proud of you I am.  Never could have I imagined when you were just a small boy all that you would become.  Yes, I had hopes and dreams for you, but life happens, and you just never know where you will end up.  But man, oh man, you have exceeded my hopes for you.  You have come so far and have accomplished so much, I don't even know where to begin!

First off, can I just tell you that you are a spitting image of your dad when he was your age?  I look at you and it takes me back to when we first had you, 24 years ago, and you are every ounce your dad!  From your dark sandy brown hair, to your deep brown, almost black eyes.  You just have to look at me with those things and you know that that I can't say no to anything you ask.

I think that's what got you your pretty little wife.  I see a lot of me in her, and that makes my heart so happy to know that you would find someone like me to call your partner, your best friend, your wife.  You two make the perfect couple and I thank God everyday for putting her in your life.  You haven't had children yet, but I don't think it will take long.  You love little kids, and have talked about having at least two or three babies of your own.  Just so you know, I'm ready and waiting...they say being a Grandma is the best job ever, so whenever you decide to take that next step, I will be the best dang Grandma I can be!!

Have I mentioned yet that I am over the moon ecstatic about the fact that you have decided to join your dad in the family business?  You went back and forth in college (Yale, to be exact) while playing football, about what you wanted to do once you graduated with your degree in finance (just like your dad) when you knew deep down inside that you couldn't wait to stand beside your dad in the finance world.  I love seeing you two thrive in the business world together.  You are both so driven, determined and amazing salesmen.  You two are like the dynamic duo and I couldn't be happier to not only have you living in the same city as me, but to be loving what you are doing...that is what matters most.

Just so you know, all of those nay-sayers out there that have ever put you down, told you that you couldn't do something, or have called you bad names, are just jealous.  Jealousy is a little devil that will forever follow you wherever you go.  Just brush it off, because you are the bigger person.  You have a heart of gold and wouldn't hurt a fly...which has made you so successful, popular and the life of the party.  Everyone just admires you which is why jealousy rears its ugly head in your direction.  You are the bigger person and I know that you will never stoop to their level!

On a completely different note, you still love yourself a good hotdog dipped in ranch, chicken nuggets with BBQ, and you are still a sucker for Sonic's chocolate shakes.  Sorry about that last one...we made that a tradition every Friday night when you were younger and they are still your favorite!

I am so amazed at your drive and determination in this life and couldn't be more proud to call you my son.  You have become such a fantastic young man and I know that this is only the beginning.  You will go far...very far.  I can't wait to see what else life has in store for you!

I love you honey.  With all of my heart.

Love,
Mom

You are my sunshine...

Hey y'all!!  You are probably wondering why the heck I am doing two posts in one day, huh??  Well, I figured I better make up for missing yesterday, so I'm doin double duty today!  Well, there's that reason and because one of my favorite blog-friends Christi, from The Chapters of Our Lives nominated me for another sunshine award!!  She is truly a sweetheart and just so laid-back, real, and absolutely hilarious!  Sooooo, I couldn't turn her down, now could I??  Plus, I think these are a lot of fun and also allow you to get to know me on a deeper level!  Sooo without further adieux, here are the answers to the questions she asked of me!

1. What is your all time favorite movie?
~My all time favorite movie would have to be Home Alone.  No joke, I watch that movie at least 10 times during the Holiday season, and quite possibly a few times throughout the year as well!  Let's just put it this way...you wouldn't want to watch it with me, unless you don't mind listening to someone recite every word to the entire movie...
2. What has been your favorite vacation memory?
~My favorite vacation memory would have to be the trip to Canada I took with the hubs before we were even engaged.  Canada is beautiful, but the best part about that trip was when he got down on one knee in the middle of dinner and asked me to marry him...I will never forget that night for as long as I live!
3. If there was just one thing you could change about your past what would it be and why?
~If I could go back and change one thing, it would have to be my mindset during my pregnancy with Madden.  He was such a surprise, and I didn't think we were ready for that chapter in our lives, so I didn't enjoy the pregnancy like I should have.  In fact, all I could think about that entire time was how I couldn't wait for it to be over.  Man, oh man, what I wouldn't give to be able to do that all over again!  He was truly a gift, and I am now realizing (with this whole process) just how lucky we were to be given such a blessing...planned, or not!

4. Do you prefer to cook or bake? Why?
~Bake!!!  Hands down!  First of all, I am a total sweets girl, so I sometimes bake just so I can eat the batter, dough, whatever it may be before it even goes in the oven!  Second, I am a complete freak when it comes to precise measurements and following instructions!  I like to know exactly how much of something should go into a recipe, because I am not confident enough to just add a "dash of this" or a "sprinkle of that"...something you don't get with cooking!!

5. What is your dream job?
~Ok, so I might sound a little cheesy with this one, but I am honestly living my dream job.  You know how some people say that they were just "made to stay home and be mommy?"  Yep...that would be me! Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamed of being able to stay home with my kiddos.  Yes, it is hard work and is the job that never ends, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!  I am just beyond lucky that my hubby is able to support my dream!
6. If you were given $1,000 and was told you had one hour to spend all of it. What would you spend it on?
~I would go crazy at Gap and H&M (my two fave stores) stocking up on fun pieces to add to my wardrobe, with a stop at Gigi's cupcakes to top off the hour...I'm a sucker for a Gigi's cupcake!!

7. Growing up what was your favorite and least favorite costume your parents forced you to wear?
~Oh my goodness, I wish that I had these pictures here to show you my favorite and worst costumes...I can see the pictures in my head right now:  Me, standing in our living room, 20 years ago, in a homemade gypsy costume that my mom put together.  It had a long, flowy maxi skirt, a mid-drif, off the shoulder white blouse and a bandana wrapped around my head.  That was the first time I ever got to wear make-up, hoop earrings and long, fake fingernails.  Hands down, my favorite costume ever!  On the other hand, my least favorite would have to be the year that my Mom wanted all three of us (Me, my sister and brother) to be vampires.  I was like 13, way too old to be dressing up anymore, but there I was, black cape, fake fang teeth, face painted pale white, with blood dripping down my mouth.  Gross.  and totally inappropriate for a teenager!!

8. Speaking of Halloween. What is your favorite holiday and why?
~Again, I'm going to be cliche and say Christmas.  I just can't help it...that is the only time of year that ALL of our family gets together to celebrate.  Plus, now that I have a child of my own, I love the magic that comes with that time of year...So much fun!
9. What do your fear most: snakes, mice or spiders?
~Hands down, I fear mice above any and all bugs, rodents or slimy creatures!!  I hate everything about them: their long tails, their beady black eyes, and the disgusting sound they make when they are scratching/eating anything!  *shutters* I just want to puke thinking about them!

10. If you were told you had 24 hours to live, your not bed ridden, what would you do in those last 24 hours?
~I would gather up all of my family and have one big party!  I would eat EVERYTHING in sight, drink until I couldn't drink anymore, and just spend those last moments with everyone that I love, celebrating my life!  Then, crawl into bed with my husband and son, so I could go in my sleep...my ultimate way of leaving this earth!

11. What type of blogs do your find yourself reading the most of? (eg. fitness, diy, food, baby, etc.)
~As much as I love fitness, and reading about others journeys to getting fit, or staying fit, I love the blogs that are a hodgepodge of everything the most.  Most importantly, I love bloggers that are real.  The ones that don't pretend to have it all together all of the time.  The ones that let a few cuss words fly every once and awhile, and know that it is ok to drink...life is too short to pretend to be something you're not!

Well, there you have it!  Thank you so much, Christi for these awesome questions!  I hope you aren't too disappointed with my answers!

Until next time...

Tuesday Randomness

Hello my dears!!  Sorry for being MIA yesterday.  That wasn't my original intention, but after the crazy weekend we had, and me picking up the pieces around here, while preparing everything for the hubs to leave for the rest of the week again, I had my hands FULL!!  But I'm back...with a bunch of randoms from this past weekend!

So Friday was such a blur, I'm surprised I even remember what I all did that day!  After I picked up Madden from school, we hurried back (an hour and a half) to my hometown to pick up the meat we had cut for us...a whole half of a steer, to be exact!    Seven big boxes, and hundreds of pounds of beef stuffed in the back of my vehicle later, we turned around and headed back to Omaha...but not before picking up my niece who was babysitting for us all weekend!
Trying to psych myself up for the trip ahead!  Btw...I'm awful at selfies...#justsayin
We got back home just in time to pick up the husband's best friend from college (who was also his best man in our wedding) from the airport as he flew in from NYC for the weekend.  We waited until Madden went down for the night and for the hubs to actually get home from Pennsylvania before we headed out for wings, beer and pizza.  It was so great getting out and reminiscing about the old days from college and getting caught up on life now.  Well that led to us staying out past midnight and I was  more than ready to see my bed that night!

I've never hated the sound of my alarm more than I did on Saturday morning going off at 4:30 a.m.  I drug myself outta bed to get ready for the day, as we were heading to Lincoln (home of the Huskers) for the football game, which started at 11.  Why would I need to get up that early when the game was at 11??  Wellllll, us Nebraskans take our tailgating verrrrrrry seriously, so that meant we had to be on the road by 6:30 so we could start our pregame festivities by 8 a.m.  Crazy??  Maybe.
A Bloody Mary Breakfast??  Why not!
So, a few bloody mary's and a few too many beers (all by 10:30 a.m.) later, we went into the game.  It was a beautiful day.  73 degrees at kickoff, and sunny.  We were all jacked up about the game, as we always are, and we actually looked really awesome the first half.
Then I don't know what happened the second half.  Maybe it was the shots we took at halftime, but the last two quarters of the game were painful.  Too painful to watch.  Needless to say, we left before the game was over and headed back to Omaha.
We were smiling, but those were smiles were deceiving...
I tried to sneak in a quick catnap before we headed back out for dinner.  That lasted about 20 minutes.  Because I then had to drag myself out of bed again to make our dinner reservations.  We ate too much, drank more than should ever be humanly possible in a day and came home so the boys could watch the big bad "fight" on tv...I proceeded to fall asleep, face down on the floor with my pants unbuttoned because I was sooooo full and bloated from all that I had put my body through that day...I'm sure it looked really lady-like.

I don't remember how it happened, but I somehow woke up in my bed on Sunday morning.  I asked the husband how I ended up there and he told me that at one point I stood up, eyes open, looked at them and said "peace out"...hahaha!  What?!!  I don't even know.

Anyway, after a quick workout, to make up for the day before, I had to turn around and head back to Columbus again for another one of my sister's wedding showers.  I tried my hardest to be the best dang MOH I could, but it was down right strugglesville.  I was tired and I was slightly hungover.  Not a good combination.  But I pushed through for her...then, after a tour of her and her fiance's cute little house that they are moving into right after they tie the knot, we headed back east for home.
A random snap chat to try to make my trip go faster...
That put us home a little after nine p.m. just in time for us to eat popcorn for dinner before crashing into bed...And let me tell y'all, I am still trying to play catch up!  That was a jam-packed weekend, going non-stop for three days straight!  I have never been more excited for a quiet week!

So what about y'all?  Do anything fun and exciting this weekend?  How do you keep going after a jam-packed weekend?  Recovery tips for this old lady??? ;)

Until next time...
